Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, some people believe that many medical research projects are funded by private companies. However, others argue that research should be carried by private companies, individuals or governement. My personal opinion is government should carry the funds of research projects as these types of projects are expensive and time taking too. Further I will explain my statement below.
Firstly, the medical research projects which are funded by private companies are often contract based projects with some personal benefits behind it. Moreover no company itself shows any intreset in an area were governement is involved particulary companies basedin Pakistan. for example, the governement doctors in Pakistan are strictly prohibited to involve with private companies in any regard due to that medical research projects never expand in a region where governement is involved.
Secondly, as far as my opinion is concerned I believe, research projects should always be carried by governement only because these type of information give advantage, benefit and profit to governement only and doing this with private companies and individuals will never be successful as these type of projects are quite expensive and alot of time is required too, in order to complete the project. For instance, biologist found in Pakistan that in margalla hills, Islamabad there is a place where a rare specie of animal is spotted, government of Pakistan encouraged that individual to carry his research and lately found that it was just a waste of time nothing else.
In conclusion, medical research projects which are funded by private companies are good and benefitical for the country too but it can go worse if country is not involved it is important for private companies as well to inform government because at certain places NOC is required. Research should be carried by individuals and private companies by involving government only.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a position—government should fund or oversee medical research—and give two reasons: projects are expensive and time-consuming, and public involvement may be needed. However, the response only partially addresses the choice among government, private companies and individuals. The first body paragraph focuses on restrictions affecting Pakistani doctors rather than clearly explaining who should conduct or fund research. The animal example in the second paragraph is also difficult to connect to medical research, and its point—that the work was a waste of time—does not support your argument clearly. Your conclusion then shifts to saying private companies and individuals should conduct research with government involvement, which conflicts with the earlier claim that government alone should carry it out. Develop a consistent position and use directly relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the discussion of government doctors being prohibited from working with companies does not lead clearly to a reason for government funding. The example about a rare animal also interrupts the focus on medical research. Some linking is mechanical, with repeated “Moreover,” “For instance” and “because,” while references such as “these types of projects” and “this” do not always make their meaning clear. The conclusion introduces a different position from the introduction and body. Organise each paragraph around one clear reason and ensure the final position follows from the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “private companies,” “government” and “NOC,” so the subject is generally identifiable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “contract based projects” and “rare specie.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less precise: “governement,” “intreset,” “particulary” and “benefitical” are examples. Some phrases are awkward or imprecise, including “carry the funds of research projects” and “these types of information.” Choose standard collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, use “fund research projects,” “these findings” and “a rare species” to express your ideas more naturally and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “as far as,” but control is uneven. Errors in sentence structure and agreement occur in examples such as “these type of projects are” and “research should be carried by government only,” where articles or plural forms are needed. The opening claim, “My personal opinion is government should carry the funds,” also needs a clearer grammatical connection, such as “My personal opinion is that the government should fund research.” Punctuation is sometimes missing after introductory phrases, and several long sentences join multiple ideas without clear boundaries. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check articles, agreement and punctuation, especially when combining reasons and examples.
