Student answer (Band 5.5)

Initially , To develop the country there is both the government and the private companies . However , private companies do the work for their own benefits and government work for the benefits of local people of the country . Every research requires a huge amount of money . Sometimes , many companies coo-operate with the companies in abroad to get a support to manage the funds for the research . But this is not good for a country for the development . Because the more a company borrows money the more the value of the money decrease. If government makes a fund for the private companies to research, the development of the country will be marked. Sometimes , government should take essential steps to increase the medical research projects. There are many particular universities in a country for the higher studies for students including medical universities. Government should invest for the high tech lab facilities so that the students could use their knowledge properly and also research something which is beneficial for the country . A high tech lab motivates a student to work properly such as research about oncogenesis . Unfortunately , in Bangladesh there are many public universities where huge amount of talented students are studying and they don't get lab facilities to do research . However , there are some private universities have a lot of lab facilities than a public university. This is not good anymore because the cost of versities are so high that a middle class student can not afford . Here creates a great lack of knowledge .

After all government and private companies should work coo-operately for the development in every sectores such as medical , engneering , ecology ,etc of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a relevant view that government and private companies should cooperate, and you support government involvement with the example of public universities in Bangladesh lacking laboratory facilities. This makes your position understandable, but it is not consistently developed: the opening contrasts the motives of government and companies, while the conclusion recommends cooperation without clearly explaining which should lead or how responsibilities should be divided. The point about companies borrowing money and its effect on currency value is also difficult to connect to medical research. To strengthen the response, state your position clearly at the outset and develop two or three directly relevant reasons, such as public oversight, fair access to research, and private-sector funding or expertise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an identifiable opening, a longer body section and a concluding sentence, and it moves from funding to university facilities and then to cooperation. However, the progression is not consistently clear. Several ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and links such as “But this is not good for a country” and “Here creates a great lack of knowledge” do not make the relationship between claims explicit. “After all” signals a conclusion, but the final sentence introduces a broad list of sectors rather than neatly summarising the medical-research argument. Use separate paragraphs for the funding argument and the university example, and make each transition explain how the next point supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “lab facilities,” “oncogenesis” and “development,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main examples. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “the value of the money decrease,” “a great lack of knowledge” and “work coo-operately.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “engneering” and “sectors” written as “sectores,” also reduce precision. Aim to use a wider set of accurate terms for funding, research access and public policy, and check spelling and collocations. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the benefits of public funding from those of private investment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If government makes a fund for the private companies to research,” and a comparison with “the more a company borrows money the more…” These attempts show some range, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors can make relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “government work for the benefits,” “the value of the money decrease,” and “There are many particular universities… for the higher studies.” Articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries need more reliable control. Review each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and use full stops rather than joining separate claims with “Because.” Practising accurate conditional and comparative structures will help you express your ideas more clearly.
