Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the question by arguing that government should support medical research while companies and the public also have a role. The points about companies struggling to fund projects and government funding university laboratories are relevant, and you explain that support could reduce financial risk. However, the position is not fully clear: the opening says both private companies and government are necessary, while the conclusion mainly stresses government facilities without clearly deciding how responsibility should be shared. The discussion also gives limited attention to research funded by individuals, one of the options in the prompt. Develop your view with a specific example and explain why your preferred funding model would produce better medical outcomes, rather than relying mainly on general claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response moves from the role and risks of companies to government support, then ends with a general conclusion. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Consequently,” and “After all” show an attempt to connect ideas. Nevertheless, the progression is not consistently clear, and the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, making the stages of the argument difficult to distinguish. Some links are also mechanical or unclear; for example, “Not only government, people of the country…” does not clearly show how public proposals relate to the preceding point. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and conclusion, and make each paragraph develop one main idea with clear references between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research,” “funds,” “loan,” “bankrupted,” and “university’s lab,” so the reader can generally identify the subject and your main points. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “bright a country’s future,” “take out a huge amount of loan,” and “pay the highest attention.” There are also spelling and form issues such as “coo-operate.” Aim for more precise academic collocations and check whether a phrase is natural in context. For instance, describe companies as facing financial risks, and explain that government funding can support research institutions and encourage researchers.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a purpose clause in “so that a student can get motivation…” and a conditional idea about government support. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction can make the reader pause. Examples include “there is contribution … necessary,” “government … donates it,” and “Government can helps those companies.” Punctuation spacing is also inconsistent, with spaces before commas and full stops. Practise building accurate basic clauses first, then add subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, such as using “can help” after a modal. Clearer sentence boundaries would also make the argument easier to understand.
