Student answer (Band 5.5)

Research in medical field is drastically growing in this modern era, and requires lot of years and funds. It is often argued that research should be only carried out by only private companies. I completely agree with this satement and will give my reasons with some relevant examples.

To begin with, working with private companies can be beneficial for individuals, society as well education. Private organizations can easily fund for medical projects and research because they are linked to and, sponsered by other organizations who invest in them. making the process smoother, and easy for researchers and students. For instance, a company in Japan, recenty invented a Beatle that removes kidney stones using laser.

On the otherhand, research requires many years of hardwork years, and millions of dollars are needed to conduct it, which an individuals cannot handle, and can be difficult for them to manage expenses alone. Furthermore, the Government has other responsibilities such as building an infrastructure of a country such as building hospital, roads, amd educational institutions to improve quality of life for people.

To conclude, many research had been done in medical fields but it requires lot of effort, time and fund which can only be provided by private interprises beacuse many other conpanies support them, and invest in thier projects.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You state a clear position in the introduction—“I completely agree”—and give relevant reasons, including the funding capacity of private organisations and the financial burden on individuals. However, the response only partially develops the task. The prompt asks whether research should be carried out by private companies, individuals, or government, but the essay mainly argues for private companies and does not explain whether government should also play a role or why private funding is preferable to public funding. The example of a Japanese device is relevant, but it is not explained enough to show how it supports your argument. The response is also 35 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. Address all three options and extend each main point with explanation or evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “To begin with” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. The first body paragraph moves from benefits to a company’s funding links and then to an example without clearly explaining the connections. The second paragraph combines the difficulty individuals face with the government’s other responsibilities, but the relationship between these points is not made explicit. Some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it; use linking phrases to show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “medical projects,” “research,” “funds,” “kidney stones,” and “laser,” and the main meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “private organizations” and “quality of life.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “fund for medical projects” would be more naturally expressed as “fund medical projects,” while “hardwork years” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “sponsered,” “recenty,” and “interprises” are noticeable. Aim to use accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general terms such as “research” and “companies” with precise alternatives where appropriate would also improve flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which an individuals cannot handle” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The overall message remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “requires lot of years and funds” is missing an article, “an individuals” has incorrect number agreement, and “many research had been done” has a mismatch between the plural meaning and the verb form. The fragment “making the process smoother” is not properly attached to the preceding sentence, and the opening sentence has an unclear subject. Practise checking articles, singular and plural agreement, and complete sentence boundaries. Shorter, carefully controlled sentences would help you express your ideas more accurately.
