Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the modern era, some people believe that several medical research projects are funded by private companies. However some people believe individuals or government should conduct medical research. In my opinion government should be more responsible for these research project than private companies.
On the one hand, private companies contribution play a significant role to the medical research. They have financial resources and modern technology and equipment to develop new medicines so they can launch new medicines for the different disease. There is several scientist who can develop new ideas and make treatment for new disease. As well as private companies investing on different drugs selling to the pharmacy were they earn profit. and it was used for treating patient from different disease which is also the beneficial things for the patients.
On the other hand, I contend that Government should do more research on medical fund. This is because the fund that government have should to invest on people health. Not only but also it is more important to improve people health. Additionally, Government also provide financial support for individuals and free treatment for patient those who are not able to afford the bills for their treatments. Finally treatment for every disease need to be affordable range for all citizens privates companies ignore those things because it might be less profitable for them.
In conclusion, privates company have a individual scientist who can developed the new ideas about medicine and treatment of several disease. In my opinion government should be able to improve public health. cooperation between private companies and government will be positive outcomes and people suffer less from the disease.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe the government should take greater responsibility, while also recognising that private companies contribute resources and technology. This addresses the central question, and the discussion of affordability and support for people who cannot pay is relevant. However, the comparison is not fully developed: the role of individuals is mentioned mainly through scientists working for companies, rather than considered as a separate option. Some claims also need clearer explanation—for example, how government funding would improve access to treatment. The conclusion introduces cooperation between government and companies, but this idea is not developed in the body. To strengthen the response, explain each option more fully and support key claims with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from company resources to scientists, profits and patient benefits without clearly connecting these points. Some linking is mechanical or inaccurate, as in “Not only but also,” while the sentence beginning “and it was used” is difficult to connect to the preceding idea. References such as “those things” are also vague. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain its consequence, and use clearer links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “financial resources,” “medical research,” “treatment” and “profitable,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “disease,” “treatment” and “private companies.” Some collocations and word forms are inaccurate, such as “medical research on medical fund,” “private companies contribution” and “different disease,” which make parts of the argument less clear. Spelling and word choice also need attention in “were they earn profit,” where the intended meaning appears to be “where.” Build a more precise set of topic phrases—for example, “allocate public funding,” “conduct clinical trials” and “affordable healthcare”—and check that each phrase fits its context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “However” and a reason introduced by “This is because.” Nevertheless, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms occur across the response and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “There is several scientist” should use plural agreement, while “the fund that government have should to invest” has problems with both the verb pattern and sentence construction. In “private companies contribution play,” the possessive form and agreement are not controlled. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, especially after sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and checking each sentence for a complete clause; then add complex structures only when their grammar is secure.
