Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, many medical research projects are supportted by private companies.I strongly believe that this research should be carried by private companies.

Firstly, these medical companies and research centres can carry the project way faster than the government as this is their only job to find cure or do researches. For example, government funded researches may be slow or it has not that many genius reseachers and scientists as the private industries because these companies already hired the best one among them. Therefore, the research should be done by private companies.

Secondly, private medical research centre have way more advance medical machine and technology and more in number as this industries have grown alot because of this they have advantage of doing research so much faster than the government or individuals ones. For instance, If government have 10 labs for research and private company have 20 labs, which one of them complete the research faster? Obviously the private sector will done it first.

Thirdly, if these private labs funds the research projects then government use that money in some other projects to develop the country and also help the private companies so they can use some of government funds as well to increase the research.

Lastly, I am agreeing with that the private companies must carried the research but also government play part in it by observating that their is no harmful thing is use and also no animals are harmed.

In conclusion, my opinion is that private medical research centre lead the projects while government kept an eye on them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you support private companies leading medical research, with government oversight. You give relevant reasons about speed, specialist staff, equipment and public funding being available for other priorities, and the final point about monitoring harm adds a useful qualification. However, some claims are asserted rather than explained. The comparison of 10 and 20 laboratories illustrates capacity, but does not show why private ownership itself ensures faster or better research. The point about government funding is also unclear: explain how public support and private leadership would work together. Develop these ideas with a specific example or a clearer explanation of benefits and safeguards to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a sequence of supporting points, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow, and the final paragraph appropriately recognises a role for government. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall organisation, while the clear progression shows some features of stronger organisation. However, the repeated “Firstly/Secondly/Thirdly/Lastly” pattern feels mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the point that government can spend money elsewhere is followed by the suggestion that it should also fund private companies. Use more varied transitions and explain how these two roles fit together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “medical research,” “research centres,” “technology,” “private sector,” and “government funds,” so your meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “harmful” and “animals are harmed.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated general words such as “research,” “companies,” and “faster,” as well as inaccurate or awkward choices: “genius researchers,” “advance medical machine,” and “observating.” Spelling errors such as “supportted,” “reseachers,” and “alot” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for research and oversight, and check spelling and collocations so your ideas sound natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “as” and a conditional example beginning “If government have 10 labs.” Your main position remains understandable, and the response includes some sentence variety. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction recur. For example, “private medical research centre have” needs plural agreement, “the private sector will done it first” has an incorrect verb form, and “government kept an eye” does not maintain the intended tense. The sentence beginning “If government have 10 labs” is also not formed as a complete, accurate conditional. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas, especially where sentences currently run together.
