Student answer (Band 4.5)

Today, private companies provide funding for many medical research projects. I believe that governments should take the main responsibility for medical research, although private companies should also contribute. In my opinion, the private companies have many fund rising the companies and for the research project government should have take a responsibility for the reasearch project funding. However, government, have never provide a fund for any project because they are thinking about the where we have to give that much of fund government have already servive for public tax. So, this types of fund government never provide that's why private companies has provide fund for research project. Approximately, private companies has take responsibility of the research project, they start any project private companies is helping for them. In addition, i think research should be carried by private companies or individuals government funds they don't have any path expect private companies fund government only think this is very massive amount of expenses and this too much of fund they can't aford for their research project. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a position at the start: governments should take the main responsibility, while private companies should contribute. However, the response then shifts toward saying that governments do not fund research and that private companies are the only practical source, so your answer to which group should carry out and fund research is not consistently clear. You give one relevant reason for private funding—companies may expect profits if research succeeds—but this point is not explained with a specific example or balanced against the public interest. The discussion of government spending is also repeated rather than developed. To strengthen the response, maintain one clear position and explain how public funding can support research that may not be profitable, alongside a developed example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic sequence, beginning with your opinion and then discussing government funding, private companies, and possible profits. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “However,” and “Last but not least” show an attempt to connect ideas. Nevertheless, the progression is difficult to follow because the position changes and several points are repeated, particularly the claim that governments cannot afford research. There are no clear paragraph breaks to separate the main argument and supporting reasons, and some links do not show a clear relationship between ideas. Organise the essay into distinct paragraphs, give each one a single purpose, and use references and transitions to make the reasoning easier to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “funding,” “expenses,” “contract,” and “profits,” which helps communicate the general topic. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “fund” and “private companies” appearing frequently. Several inaccurate word choices or forms make parts hard to understand, such as “fund rising the companies,” “servive for public tax,” and “conveience for their research project fund.” Spelling errors such as “reasearch” and “aford” also reduce precision. Build a more accurate range of collocations for discussing research finance, and check spelling and word forms. For example, distinguish between “provide funding,” “allocate public funds,” and “expect a return on investment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example, “I believe that governments should take the main responsibility … although private companies should also contribute.” This shows some ability to express a position and add qualification. However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction, which sometimes make the intended meaning unclear. Examples include “government should have take a responsibility,” “government, have never provide,” and “private companies has provide.” Some sentences also run together without clear punctuation, especially the long section beginning “In addition, i think research should be carried…”. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past participles, and divide long ideas into complete sentences. More controlled complex sentences would improve clarity.
