Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You attempt to answer the question and give a position that private-company research is important, while also referring to government research and healthcare access. However, the position is difficult to follow: the opening says private funding is most important, but later sentences appear to compare private and government provision without clearly stating which should lead. The points about poor people, cancer, heart disease, medicines and vaccines are relevant, but their meaning and supporting explanation are too limited to develop a clear argument. The response also contains 158 words, below the required 250, so several parts of the task remain insufficiently addressed. State your choice directly, then explain and illustrate two reasons in developed paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The use of “However” signals a contrast, and “In my opinion” marks the final position. These features give the reader some sense of structure. However, progression between ideas is difficult to follow because several sentences are incomplete or their relationships are unclear, such as “research for new inless this time all people are good service for healths.” The contrast between private and government research is not explained consistently, and the conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than resolving them. Build each paragraph around one clear point, use linking phrases only where the relationship is explicit, and make references such as “they” or “this” clearly identify what they mean.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “medical research,” “health care,” “cancer,” “heart diseases,” “medicines” and “vaccines.” This shows some awareness of the subject and gives you a starting point for discussing research and public health. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices frequently make the intended meaning hard to understand, for example “prvate,” “recearch,” “inless” and “offect.” Some phrases are also unclear or unnatural, including “similar healths service” and “better healths care.” Aim to use a smaller set of accurate topic-specific expressions, checking spelling and word forms carefully. More precise phrases such as “access to healthcare” and “medical treatments” would help communicate your ideas clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You use some simple sentence patterns and attempt longer structures, including a contrast introduced by “However” and a concluding sentence beginning “In my opinion.” These attempts show an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on isolated statements. However, sentence structure and verb forms are often inaccurate, and several sentences lack a clear grammatical relationship between their parts. For example, “I think research projects are funded by private companies are most important” combines clauses without a suitable structure, while “many people think that reseaech carried by private companies for goverment are most important” has unclear agreement and construction. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent. Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences first, then join them with accurate clauses and punctuation.
