Student answer (Band 5.5)
As technology had advanced so far, we have seen drastic changes in all the things which helps in the betterment of human life. Similarly, we have observed many potential changes in medical reserachs in the past 100 years. It developed many important medicines and cures to save lots human lives and gave them a hope to live again. However, we have seen a shift in researches being funded and carried out by private comapnies or individuals, rather than being done by the government. This essay will shed light on the banes and bones of the medical projects caried out by private companies.
On the one hand, I partially agree to the fact that wether, the researches should be done by ony private institutes or by government agencies. In addition to that, if it is helping in the betterment of the mankind, everyone has the rght to try their skills and make it easier for the people who are suffering from unknown diseases to mankind. Moreover, any individuals is interested in having their own medical research projects, the government should help them by funding them and by providing the equipment or laboratory space and also help them by pairing them with the right minds, who can assist them.
On the other hand, I believe that private companies that fund these medical researches to find the cure or develop different ways to treat a disease, by which they want to gain profit and make them wealthy. Moreover, these private institutes, do not care if the person can afford it or not, wether he will be able to survive or not, they only care about their profits and sales they make. Furthermore, the government should take a stand and buy all their medicines and products in a fair price and sell it to the consumers or the government should impose rules on these private institutions and stop them from making millions of dollars from the poor.
In conclusion, it does not matter who funds the medical research projects, after the cure is developed, it should not be sold at a price where the poor cannot afford it. It is everyones right to live a healthy life and the government shouldstep in and put a stop to all this tyranny of the money minded people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the question by discussing government support for individuals and the risks of private companies prioritising profit, and your conclusion clearly argues that medicines should remain affordable. However, the task asks you to decide who should carry out medical research, and your position is not fully clear: “I partially agree” does not specify a preferred model, while the conclusion says the funder does not matter. The discussion of government funding for individuals is relevant but brief, and the private-sector paragraph focuses more on pricing than on the merits or drawbacks of conducting research. State a clear preference—such as government-led research with private and individual contributions—and develop it with a specific example and balanced reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the shift between ideas, and the final paragraph returns to affordability. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “Moreover” and “Furthermore,” and the relationship between the ideas is not always clear. For example, the first body paragraph begins with an unclear statement about whether research should be done by private institutes or government, then moves to individual rights and government assistance. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it in a logical sequence, and use clearer references so readers can follow who is funding, conducting, or regulating the research.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “laboratory space,” “diseases,” “cure,” and “consumers,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “a stand” and “tyranny,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “banes and bones” appears to mean “pros and cons,” and “betterment of the mankind” is awkward. Spelling errors such as “reserachs,” “comapnies,” and “wether” are noticeable and reduce precision. Build a more reliable range of collocations for research and public policy, and proofread spelling. Prefer precise, neutral wording over dramatic expressions when presenting an academic argument.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional and relative structures, as in “if it is helping…” and “who can assist them.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence patterns are faulty or difficult to follow. For example, “any individuals is interested” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “private companies that fund these medical researches… by which they want to gain profit” does not form a clear complete sentence. There are also errors in articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, such as “gave them a hope” and the comma after “institutes.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and main verb, then check agreement and punctuation, especially in longer sentences.
