Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is true that, most of the private companies are funded in medical research. While there are a variety of factors responsible for it, i believe it is a positive development but if the goverment also give some fund on this field it will be more good for public.

There are a number of reason why provate companies and government should work together for medical research. One possible reason is thet, nowadays private companies are more wealthy because of their own abilits. If they contribute in meical research it will be increase their research succes. Worldwide medical resorces are available for their investment and it will be more strong and organize. While, if government contribute on this field research project poor people get the benefit in low cost. Cause government don't look for their own benefits but also they focus for cuntries benefits.

Another reason is that, if individual companies are help the medical sector, countries economy are increase highly and others country also invest on it. For that reason global communication will be batter in the future. On the other hand, if government invest on their own countries benefits it will get more freedom by doing research. Nobody can give their own oppenion on this fild. It will be more helpfull for own cuntries and then others. For example, if private companies invest on research their first gole to get more mone on this but if government do this, they this their own cuntries people first.

In conclusion, both private and government are inportent for medical research. It will help hedical sector and in future it will more helpfull for general people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a relevant opinion: private companies and governments should both support medical research, and you explain that public funding could make treatments more affordable. This addresses the central issue, but the position is not fully clear at the start: you call private funding “a positive development” before saying government support would be better for the public. The reasons are also under-developed. For example, the claim that private investment will increase a country’s economy and attract other countries is not explained or supported with a specific example. Clarify your preferred balance between the funders, then develop each reason by showing how it affects research or patients. This would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. You also use signposts such as “Another reason,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven: the first moves from company wealth to research success and then to benefits for poor people without clearly connecting these points. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or do not show the intended relationship, such as “While, if government contribute” and “For that reason” before the point about global communication. The contrast between private and government funding is repeated rather than developed. Group related points together and use clear cause-and-effect links and pronouns with unmistakable references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research,” “investment,” “research project” and “economy,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “medical resorces,” “research succes,” “get more mone” and “their first gole.” Phrases such as “more good for public” and “countries economy are increase highly” are also not natural ways to express your ideas. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations, such as “fund clinical research,” “make treatments affordable” and “serve the public interest,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the roles and benefits of each funding source.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “if government invest” and clauses beginning with “because” and “while.” These attempts show an effort to express relationships between ideas, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear. For example, “private companies are help the medical sector” has an incorrect verb form, while “countries economy are increase” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “contribute on this field.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one dependent clause at a time. Check agreement, verb forms, articles and punctuation when revising.
