Student answer (Band 5.5)

Medical research has become common practice in a society. research helps gather information about specific diease and health related problem allowing finding to be shared nationally or internatinally. .Many medical research are carried by a individuals usally funded by three sources private companies, individuals them self and government. In my opnion government should be the primary sources because it is to promote public interrest and advacemnet more accesible to everyone.

medical research is expensive in terms of conducting a specfic treatment in order to rule out the treatment options and gathering all information,as a result individuals themself cant fund as they dont have many financial resources .therefore they need a another sources to fund them. although private comapnies can fund but they priortise projects that offer greater financial returns rather than those that address public health concerns.. so government is the only sources for the researches. governemt can ensure that researches finding are shared widely and new treatment are made more accessible to general public.

Government should ensure that the medical research is publised nationally or internationally,so it is easily accessible to public either it is poor or wealthy . medical research that is published should be free for everyone. Its government duty to look after the research that is been published by the governmet meet certain criteria that helps the public for recent advancemnet in treatment planning .

In conclusion, government should stand and take care of medical reserches that can be recongized nationally and internationally and help the general public to acess new treatment advances. its government obliged that funded are not use in other purposes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe government should be the primary funder, and you give relevant reasons, including the high cost of research and the risk that private companies prioritise financial returns. You also address public access to findings and treatments, so the response covers the main parts of the question. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, calling government “the only sources” does not explain why individuals or private firms should have no supporting role, and the claim that research should be free would benefit from a specific example or further justification. Develop these comparisons and illustrate one argument to make your response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs discuss funding and access, and a conclusion restates your position. Connectors such as “as a result,” “therefore,” and “In conclusion” help show relationships between ideas. At times, however, the progression is mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph moves from research costs to private companies and then to government without clearly separating these points, while “so government is the only sources” does not follow fully from the preceding comparison. Some references, such as “the research” and “it,” could also be more precise. Organise each paragraph around one main claim and use clearer links between the claim, explanation, and consequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “medical research,” “financial resources,” “public health concerns,” and “treatment planning,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “financial returns” and “accessible to the general public.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “diease,” “internatinally,” “advacemnet,” and “funded are not use.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “researches finding” and “stand and take care of medical researches,” which can make the intended meaning less clear. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; using a smaller set of well-controlled topic terms would strengthen clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure in “as a result individuals… can’t fund” and a contrast introduced by “although.” This shows some range, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “Many medical research are carried by a individuals” has problems with agreement and articles, while “Its government duty” is missing a possessive form. Several sentences also run together or have unclear clause boundaries, particularly in the opening and the paragraph about publication. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, possessives, and sentence boundaries. Build longer sentences only when you can control how their clauses fit together.
