Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You state a position—medical research should be funded by government as well as private companies—and begin to explain one relevant reason for private funding: companies may have the equipment and facilities needed for research. However, the response does not develop the government’s role or explain how the two sources should contribute, and the argument ends abruptly after mentioning HPLC. The task asks you to give reasons and relevant examples, but no example or developed comparison is provided. The response is also substantially below the required minimum length, which leaves the task only minimally addressed. To improve, explain the benefits and limitations of each funding source, support each point with a specific example, and state clearly which arrangement you consider best.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic overall shape: an opening position followed by a paragraph introducing support for private funding. The linking phrase “this is because” also signals a reason, so the reader can follow the intended direction at first. However, the argument does not progress beyond this point, and the final reference to HPLC leaves the paragraph unfinished. The relationship between your stated preference for joint funding and the paragraph’s focus on private companies is not explained. Paragraphing and transitions are therefore too limited to guide a complete argument. Develop a separate paragraph for each main reason, use clear links between them, and finish with a conclusion that returns to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt some topic-specific vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “research lab,” “equipment,” and “facilities,” which helps establish the subject. There is also an effort to use a more formal phrase such as “considerable merit.” However, spelling and word-form errors are frequent, including “realted,” “organsation,” “requied,” “predomintly,” “scientest,” and “equiped.” Some phrasing is also imprecise or unnatural, such as “founded by private companies” when discussing financial support. These issues make the limited vocabulary less effective. Build a reliable set of terms for funding and research, and check spelling and collocations carefully; for example, use “funded by,” “researchers,” and “well-equipped laboratory.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You make an attempt to combine ideas using a relative clause and a causal structure, as in “facilities which are … required” and “this is because.” This shows some willingness to move beyond short, simple statements. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. The opening “In recent year” lacks the appropriate plural form, and “I believe that its requied important equipment” has an unclear sentence structure that makes the intended meaning difficult to follow. The sentence beginning “In these research” also has problems with number and agreement, while punctuation is missing after “companies.” Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals, agreement, and sentence boundaries before submitting.
