Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, such as the overall downward trend for the UK and Sweden, and the upward trend for Italy. However, the overview is slightly inaccurate; you stated that Sweden and Portugal were at the same point and were the lowest, which is not entirely supported by the data throughout the period. Additionally, some data points are vague, such as 'near about 4 metric tonnes' for Italy. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most significant trends rather than specific data points, and double-check your comparisons to ensure they accurately reflect the graph's visual information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'At a fleeting glance', and 'Moving ahead' to structure your writing. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as 'reached at the similar point of Sweden in latter year'. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your pronouns and references clearly point back to the correct subjects.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, using terms like 'calibrated', 'metric tonnes', and 'surpass'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'release of carbon dioxide least then other countries' and 'reached at the similar point'. There are also minor spelling errors like 'didnot'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure you are using the correct prepositions after verbs like 'reached' (which does not require 'at').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the United Kingdom'), subject-verb agreement ('individuals lived in Italy... released'), and unnecessary repetition of words ('in in 2007'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'people those who live in United Kingdom'. To improve, proofread your work to catch these small errors and practice using more varied complex sentence structures to increase your grammatical range.
