Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response successfully identifies the main features and trends of the four countries over the 40-year period. You have provided a clear overview and supported the key points with relevant data from the graph. All parts of the task are addressed, and the comparisons between countries are logical. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview is slightly more detailed by highlighting the most significant contrast, such as the UK's downward trend versus the upward trajectory of Italy and Portugal. Overall, the information is accurate and well-selected, providing a clear summary of the provided data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the general trends to specific country data. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In 1967' and 'afterward', to link information. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. For instance, the transition between the UK and Sweden in the third paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the use of cohesive devices would help the text read more naturally and improve the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'metric tonnes', 'significantly', and 'gradually'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'carbon dioxide produce' (should be 'production') and 'steady went up' (should be 'steadily increased'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more varied verbs and adverbs to describe trends, and ensure that you are using the correct word forms (nouns vs. verbs) when discussing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'during time period' (missing an article), 'went up steady' (should be 'steadily'), and 'reached at 5.9 tonnes' (unnecessary preposition). Additionally, there are minor issues with tense consistency and word order. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions will help you achieve greater accuracy in your writing.
