The graph below shows average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The line graph below illustrates the mean amount of the carbon dioxide released per person in United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between the time period of 1967 to 2007.

The highest amount of carbon dioxide which was about 11 tonnes was emitted by United Kingdom in the year 1967,which in the coming years showed a gradual decrease in the emissions over the period of 1967 to 2007.Second highest carbon emitting country about 9 tonnes is Sweden.From 1967 to 1977,it showed a gradual increase in the emission,but after 1977 it showed a rapid decrease in the carbon emissions over the period of 1977 to 2007.

Italy showed even lower carbon emissions about 4.1 tonnes in the year 1967 but however the carbon emission index rose gradually over the period of 1967 to 1997 and then remained 7 tonnes till 2007.

Portugal showed the lowest amount of carbon emissions about 1 tonnes in the year 1967,similarly like Italy it also showed a gradual inrease in the emissions nd continued to rise till 2007.
