Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant data points for all four countries. The overview clearly contrasts the downward trends of the UK and Sweden with the upward trends of Italy and Portugal. However, the response could be improved by ensuring more precise data reporting. For instance, stating 'around 11 metric tonnes' is acceptable, but some figures are slightly vague or lack the necessary units consistently. You have covered all parts of the task well, though the comparison between the countries could be more integrated to highlight the shifting rankings over the 40-year period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'in first year' instead of 'in the first year of the period'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the start to the end of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'metric tonnes', 'gradual decreased', and 'steadily'. However, there are several word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'emissioned' (should be 'emitted'), 'citizens emissions amount was decreased' (awkward phrasing), and 'slight more' (should be 'slightly more'). Spelling errors like 'respectivelly' and 'respectivally' also detract from the overall quality. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensuring accurate word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'United Kingdom is the country where the emissions of CO2 had significant amount' (missing articles and awkward structure) and 'Sweden citizens emissions amount was decreased with the time' (incorrect possessive and preposition usage). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in articles, verb forms, and prepositions prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles.
