Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the overall trends for the four countries. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you state that the UK emission 'drastically increased' in 1977, which contradicts the downward trend shown in the graph. Additionally, the description of Italy and Sweden's trends is confusing and inaccurate, as the graph shows Italy's emissions rising and then falling, rather than remaining the same until 2007. While you have attempted to select and report main features, the misinterpretation of the data points prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure you carefully verify the figures and trends against the visual data provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'On contrary', and 'After that', though some are used incorrectly or mechanically. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by the inaccurate data reporting, making the logical flow difficult to follow in the body paragraphs. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the trends for Italy and Sweden. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, accurate focus that supports the overall summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but limited. You use terms like 'fluctuations', 'metric tonnes', and 'emission' correctly, but there is noticeable repetition of basic verbs like 'rose' and 'decrease'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'conhary' instead of 'contrary', 'remeen seme' instead of 'remained same', and 'portugal' (which should be capitalised). These errors do not necessarily impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied descriptors for trends, such as 'declined steadily' or 'plateaued', would enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('it decrease' instead of 'it decreased'), subject-verb agreement ('United Kingdom and Sweden shows' instead of 'show'), and awkward phrasing ('The biggest carbon dioxide emmission was done by the residents'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and capitalisation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is high. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
