Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you attempt to identify some trends, the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview of the main features. The data points provided are often inaccurate (e.g., stating Portugal started at 1 million when the graph shows a lower figure). You have not adequately compared the countries, and the lack of sufficient detail means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you cover all countries, provide accurate data points, and write a more comprehensive summary that highlights the key differences and trends over the 40-year period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transitions between sentences are mechanical and often confusing. For example, the phrase 'The comparison between person four Country are started with...' is disjointed and does not effectively link the ideas. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often inaccurate, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of information. To improve, focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and linking words such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'subsequently' to connect your observations more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'started', 'lower', and 'different types'. There are also issues with word formation and spelling, such as 'cardon' instead of 'carbon' and 'tones' instead of 'tonnes'. The phrasing is often unnatural, which hinders the clarity of your report. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'declined', 'remained stable', or 'peaked', and ensure you use the correct terminology for units of measurement.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Portugal is started', 'Country has fells'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, which are necessary for higher band scores. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic errors like 'fells' instead of 'fell' is essential.
