Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While the overview identifies some main trends, the description of the data is incomplete. The response ends abruptly mid-sentence ('ended up beining the'), leaving the analysis of Italy and Portugal unfinished. Consequently, the key features are not fully reported, and the comparison is left incomplete. To improve, ensure all data points are covered and the response is fully developed and proofread to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the abrupt ending disrupts the logical flow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'However', but the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'Later came across significant downfall', where the subject is missing. The lack of a conclusion and the incomplete final sentence hinder the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'analytical survey conducted related to' and 'increased emission in a dramatical manner'. The spelling error 'beining' and the awkward phrasing 'United Kingdoms is marked to be the highest' suggest a need for more precise control over academic vocabulary. To reach a higher band, focus on using more varied and accurate collocations to describe trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'The United Kingdoms is marked to be the highest with 11 metric tonnes of carbon in the starting' (incorrect article usage and preposition) and 'In first 10 years emission in Sweden rose' (missing article). Punctuation is also inconsistent, such as the slash used at the end of the second paragraph. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the information provided.
