Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, such as the overall trends for the four countries. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the graph. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting; for instance, you state Portugal started from 0, whereas the graph shows it starting at approximately 1 metric tonne. Additionally, the description of the UK trend as 'nearby 11' and 'about 9' is slightly imprecise. To improve, ensure you carefully read the axes and data points to provide more accurate figures. The task is addressed, but the precision of the data reporting needs refinement to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'Additionly', and 'throughout the period'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are issues with referencing and logical progression. For example, the transition between the UK and Sweden is abrupt. The use of 'Additionly' (spelled incorrectly) is a basic attempt at linking. To improve, try to use a wider range of cohesive devices and ensure that your paragraphing is used to group related information more logically, such as grouping countries with similar trends together more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, using terms like 'emissions', 'metric tones', 'proportion', and 'downfall'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'followed downfall' instead of 'followed a downward trend' and 'highest proportion to produce' which is awkward phrasing. There are also spelling errors like 'Additionly'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are natural and grammatically correct in context. Avoid repetitive phrasing when describing trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The bar graph illustrate', 'The United Kingdom were recorded'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('it also increase rapidly'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the reader work harder to understand the intended meaning. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent when describing past data. Proofreading for small errors like missing 's' or incorrect prepositions will significantly improve your score.
