Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the task is incomplete as the text cuts off mid-sentence. While there is an attempt to identify an overall trend, the description of the data is fragmented and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the prompt. Key features, such as specific data points or clear comparisons between the four countries, are missing or poorly developed. To improve, you must ensure you complete the task by providing a full summary and analysis of the data provided in the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical structure. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the body paragraphs are not properly developed or organized. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and often incorrect way, such as the repetitive use of 'whereas' and 'while' without proper sentence structure. The abrupt ending of the text further disrupts the flow of information, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. Improved paragraphing and a wider, more accurate range of linking words are needed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and often inaccurate. Phrases like 'boosting at early stage' and 'slowing down the emission' are not natural collocations for describing statistical data. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as 'brow' instead of 'graph' and 'illsutrates' instead of 'illustrates'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. You should focus on learning specific academic collocations used to describe trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'decline', 'peak', and 'remain stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Italy and Portugal is rising' instead of 'are rising', and incorrect article usage. The sentence structures are basic and often fragmented. The attempt at complex sentences is unsuccessful due to poor punctuation and incorrect conjunction usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions in an academic context.
