Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all four countries and identifies the main trends, such as the decline in the UK and the increase in Portugal. However, the report is marred by significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For example, you state the UK reached 'just above to metric tonnes' in 2007, which is unclear and inaccurate based on the graph. Additionally, the description of Sweden's trend is confusing, and the mention of Italy's data is vague. While you have attempted to select and report main features, the lack of precision in citing figures and the misinterpretation of the data points prevent this from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'while, portugal released' and 'howver it was dramatically declined'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing, particularly in the final paragraph where the transition between countries feels disjointed. While there is an overall attempt at a logical flow, the lack of control over linking words and the frequent errors in sentence structure make the cohesion feel somewhat forced and occasionally confusing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. You frequently use non-academic or incorrect terminology, such as 'exhaled', 'difussion', 'effusion', and 'increasement'. There are also numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'emitts', 'Enlgand', 'Unitide Kingdome', and 'Itlay'. These errors are frequent and sometimes impede the reader's understanding of the data. To improve, you should focus on using precise, academic vocabulary related to trends (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable') and ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('united kingdom emitts'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence constructions. Many sentences are grammatically incomplete or contain redundant words, such as 'the the emissions' or 'reached to just above to metric tonnes'. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to a lack of clarity. The punctuation is also inconsistent. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence structure and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
