Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the task by describing the trends for the four countries. However, the information provided is often inaccurate or poorly expressed, such as stating that the UK emission in 1967 was 'greater to 10' when the graph shows it was slightly above 10. The overview is extremely vague and fails to highlight the significant trends, such as the decline in the UK and Sweden versus the increase in Italy and Portugal. The response lacks a clear summary of the main features and comparisons, resulting in a fragmented presentation of the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response is organized into short, repetitive sentences that lack logical flow. While there are attempts at sequencing using words like 'To secoundly', 'The thirdly', and 'Finaly', these are used incorrectly and do not create a coherent progression of ideas. Paragraphing is absent, and the lack of cohesive devices makes the text feel like a list of disconnected observations rather than a structured report. The overall arrangement is mechanical and fails to guide the reader through the data effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic structures to describe the data. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'enhace' instead of 'increased' and 'matric tonnes' instead of 'metric tonnes'. The student struggles to use appropriate terminology for describing trends, such as 'greater to' or 'less than', which are used inconsistently. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with any degree of precision or academic style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and preposition usage (e.g., 'Let discuss the graph to average', 'remember to the 2007 is greater than to 5'). The text consists almost entirely of simple sentences with incorrect syntax. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing capitalization and incorrect spacing. The lack of control over basic grammatical structures makes the writing difficult to follow and significantly lowers the overall quality.
