The graph below shows average carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The chart displays information about the main producers of carbondioxide release per person in four different countries i.e. UK, Sweden, Italy and Portugal from thw year 1967 to 2007.

Overall, the CO2 fumes were maximum for Britian in 1967 with almost 11 metric tonnes, but this number gradually fell down to nearly 9 metric tonnes in 2007. On the other hand, Portugese CO2 exhausts which started off with the lowest 1 metric tonnes in 1967, escalated dramaticallly to almost 6 metric tonnes in 2007.

In contrast, Sweden and Italy showed fluctuated CO2 emissions with over 8 metric tonnes and 4 metric tonnes of carbondioxide release in 1967 resspectively. Emissions from Swedish people showed a maximum release of CO2 in 1977 with over 10 metric tonnes. This number declined to almost 7 metric tonnes in 1987 anf finally to under 6 metric tonnes in 2007. Italians starting of with just over 4 metric tonnes of CO2 exhausts in 1967, ended with about 8 metric tonnes in 2007.
