Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the task by reporting information from the line graph regarding carbon dioxide emissions, but it only does so minimally. The overview is repetitive and lacks clarity, featuring awkward phrasing such as 'The people who live in united kingdom had highest number of carbondioxide emissions'. Furthermore, the selection of data is erratic and fails to capture the main trends comprehensively. For instance, the writer describes individual data points without presenting a clear, overarching comparison of how the emissions changed across the four countries over the 40-year period. Key trends, such as the overall downward trajectory for the UK and Sweden versus the upward trend for Portugal and Italy, are largely missed or poorly articulated.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The information and ideas are not arranged in a fully coherent manner. Although the writer attempts to use paragraph breaks and transition signals such as 'Moving furthur' and 'After that', the overall progression is difficult to follow. Referencing is often unclear, and cohesive devices are used mechanically or inaccurately. The repetition of transitional phrases like 'At the fleeting glance' disrupts the flow of the writing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal organization of ideas within the paragraphs lacks logical sequencing, making it hard for the reader to follow the comparison of data across the different years.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with numerous spelling and word-choice errors that strain the reader. Examples include spelling mistakes like 'diffrent', 'carbondioxide', and 'furthur', as well as awkward phrasing such as 'average limit by carbondioxideemission'. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with frequent reliance on simple terms. There is little evidence of less common lexical items, and word forms are frequently misused, such as confusing nouns and verbs in phrases like 'average no of carbon dioxide emissions'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text exhibits a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that impede communication and distort meaning. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at more complex structures are often faulty, such as 'Which was near about 11 metric tonnes' (a sentence fragment) and 'after 10 years it will be increased' (incorrect tense usage for past data). There are also persistent issues with punctuation, capitalization, and missing articles, such as 'people who live Italy'. These grammatical inaccuracies occur throughout the response and frequently cause difficulty for the reader.
