Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to summarise the data by mentioning the countries and certain trends, the information is presented in a confused and disjointed manner. Some data points are inaccurate or poorly described, such as claiming that Italy's emissions 'sharply increase' in 2007 when they actually remained stable, or misinterpreting the overall trends for Sweden and the United Kingdom. There is no clear overview provided, and the selection of main features is superficial, which keeps the response at a minimal level of task fulfilment.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation evident in the attempt to group countries and discuss time periods, but there is no clear overall progression or logical structure. Paragraphing is highly irregular and informal, with abrupt transitions such as starting sentences with conversational fillers like 'So, in Portugal' or 'If we talk about'. Cohesive devices are either inadequate or misused, and referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information across the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'line chat' instead of chart, 'united kingdoms', 'diffirence', 'realy surpised', and 'capablitiy'. The range is limited to simple terms, and attempts at less common vocabulary often result in unnatural phrasing or incorrect collocations, such as 'remaining emission size slowly increase' or 'reduce most till 2007'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The range of grammatical structures is very limited. The student relies heavily on simple sentences or attempts complex structures that are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in tense selection, prepositions, articles, and subject-verb agreement. Examples of structural breakdown include 'Duration of process occurs between 1967 to 2007', 'they can be see that 1997 era sharply increase', and 'it not lighter suddenly but reduce in small time at still constant'. These persistent errors strain the reader and obscure the intended meaning.
