Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only minimally and is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. It fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, stopping at just 117 words. While there is an attempt to provide an overview and mention some data points, the information is restricted to a few countries and initial years, and the figures reported (such as percentages instead of metric tonnes) reflect a misunderstanding of the units in the graph. The under-development and lack of a complete summary keep this response at a lower band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation attempted, with an introduction and an overview paragraph, but there is no clear overall progression as the text breaks off abruptly. Cohesive devices are minimal and mechanical, such as the repetitive use of time markers. Paragraphing is initiated, but the unfinished nature of the writing prevents a cohesive structure from being fully established throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, which is adequate for basic communication but restricts precision. There are noticeable lexical inaccuracies, such as using percentage signs (%) instead of metric tonnes, and awkward phrasing like 'got increased over years'. While meaning is generally conveyed for the parts attempted, the vocabulary range remains basic and prone to word-choice errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response shows a limited range of sentence structures with frequent grammatical errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples of faulty grammar include 'the Portugal is seem to at the lowest', 'the Sweden and United Kingdom's decreased', and 'emissions for both countries grew up with years as Portugal rose with 2.1%'. These persistent errors in verb forms, articles, and prepositions reflect a restricted control over grammatical structures.
