Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 93 words compared to the required 150 words. Furthermore, the response is incomplete and breaks off abruptly in the middle of a sentence in 1977. While the student attempts to provide an overview and mentions some initial data points for 1967, the severe lack of development and incomplete nature of the text mean the task is addressed only partially. Key trends across the entire 40-year period are omitted entirely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation attempted through introductory elements and transitional phrases such as 'Overall' and 'First of all'. However, there is no clear overall progression because the response cuts off prematurely. Cohesive devices are used minimally and somewhat awkwardly, and referencing is not always clear, leading to a disjointed structure that prevents the ideas from flowing logically from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'release', 'carbon dioxide', and 'people'. There are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'carbon dioxide ratio' instead of emission levels, and 'Sweden citizens release a ratio above of 8'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic concepts about the chart, the range is restricted and errors in word choice are apparent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying on simple clauses with frequent basic errors. There are issues with subject-verb agreement and prepositional use, such as 'United Kingdom people release' and 'above from 4'. Attempts at descriptive structures are faulty, and errors in basic grammar occur frequently, which can cause some difficulty for the reader in parsing the intended meaning.
