Student answer (Band 5.5)

sco2 emissions per person in Portugal was almost 1 in 1967 but with the year passed it rised to almost more than 5 in years 2007. In the casenof Italy it was already quit high as compared to purtugal even back in date 1967 it was more than 4 and with the passage of time it contenously rose up and maintaint itself at above 7 in year 2007. if we talk about Sweden it shows some different data it was very high in the year 1967, above 8, which also went up first in 1977 than it droped dramaticaly to below 6 till the year 2007. lastly its United Kingdom it also shows some declining pattern but not as same as Sweden it was like 11 in 1967 and could only drop to almost 8.5 for our refrence. By figuring out this graph we come to a point that onlu Sweden Shows the best decline of Co2 emission and Purtugal ilustrates the most enhancement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all four countries and identify the main broad patterns: emissions fell in the UK and Sweden overall, while Portugal rose markedly and Italy increased before levelling off. The comparisons that the UK began highest and Portugal lowest are also supported by the graph. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: Sweden rose to a peak in 1977, then fell to about 5.4 by 2007, rather than “below 6 till the year 2007” as a general description of its decline; Italy was about 7.6 in 2007, not merely “above 7,” and the UK ended near 8.7. The response would be stronger with a concise overview and more precise comparisons of the final values and Italy’s plateau.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response moves through the countries in a generally understandable order, and phrases such as “In the case of Italy,” “if we talk about Sweden,” and “lastly” help signal transitions. However, the writing is presented as one long paragraph, so the overview and supporting details are not clearly separated. The repeated country-by-country openings make the progression feel list-like, while the final sentence introduces a conclusion without clearly summarising the key comparisons. Some links, such as “By figuring out this graph,” are awkward and do not connect the ideas precisely. Grouping the overview first, then comparing the declining countries with the rising ones, would make the organisation clearer and cohesion less repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “CO2 emission,” “declining pattern,” “rose,” and “decline,” so the main trends can be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, such as “enhancement” for an increase in emissions, “maintaint itself,” and “for our refrence.” Spelling errors—including “dramaticaly,” “continously,” and “Purtugal”—also make the writing less controlled. Aim for precise graph language such as “increased,” “fell,” “peaked,” and “remained stable,” and use “per person” or “per capita” consistently. More accurate vocabulary would help express the comparisons without relying on vague phrases such as “very high” and “some different data.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences with time clauses and contrasts, for example, “which also went up first in 1977 than it droped,” showing an effort to connect events rather than use only short statements. However, these complex constructions are often faulty, and sentence boundaries and punctuation are inconsistent. Examples include “with the year passed it rised,” “it was already quit high,” and “it also shows some declining pattern.” Tense shifts between past reporting and present commentary also reduce control. Use the past tense consistently for the historical data, and build shorter, complete sentences before adding clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation so that the relationships between changes are easier to follow.
