Student answer (Band 5.5)
The line grapg were illustrate the ratio of a carbon dioxode emission per head in Untied Kingdom and other three area. The given years are between 1967 snd 2007.
Overall, data were represent in metric tonnes according to per person. However, Uk had highest numbers of carbon dioxide in initial year then it was started to fall down. Portugal had lowest emission in starting year but it was up in last year. Sweden and Itlay had almost similar numbers.
To begin with, in the year of 1967 Portugal had an approximantly 2 metric tonnes corbon dioxide which was the lowest number. Moreover, in the same year Sweden had a nearly 9 metric tonnes corbon dioxide which was the second highest number in 1967. However, in the year of 2007 both the countries had similar metric tonnes of carbon dioxide.
On the other hand, the initial starting of Italy had a 4 metric tonnes carbon dioxide but it was gredually starting to incrase. Apart from it, in the year of 1967 UK had the highest number of metric tonnes of carbon dioxide and that was 11. By contrast, in the year of 2007 both had an almost similar number which was nearly 8 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several key features: the UK begins highest and declines, Portugal starts lowest and rises, and Sweden and Portugal finish at similar levels. These points are relevant, and the opening overview gives the reader a general picture. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: Sweden and Italy do not have “almost similar numbers” across the period, and the UK and Italy do not finish at similar levels; in 2007 they are about 8.7 and 7.6 tonnes respectively. The report also omits important developments, especially Sweden’s peak in 1977 followed by a marked fall, and Italy’s steady rise before levelling off. Add clearer comparisons across the full period and support them with accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. The sequence from the starting year to the final year is generally understandable, and linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “By contrast” help signal relationships. However, progression is weakened by repeated references to 1967 and 2007 rather than grouping the countries’ trends in a clear way. Some links are also illogical or unclear: “On the other hand” does not establish a meaningful contrast, while “both the countries” and “both had” leave the comparison ambiguous. Organise the details by contrasting the declining UK and Sweden with the rising Italy and Portugal, and use precise references to each country.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “metric tonnes,” “highest,” “lowest,” “fall” and “increase,” so the main subject is usually recognisable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled forms make the report less clear, such as “grapg,” “dioxode,” “Untied,” “approximantly” and “gredually.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “the ratio of a carbon dioxide emission” and “had a nearly 9 metric tonnes.” Use standard chart language and accurate collocations, for example “per-capita emissions,” “stood at approximately,” “rose steadily” and “declined.” Greater precision in describing trends would also help distinguish a peak, a fall and a plateau.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “but” and “however.” Nevertheless, errors occur throughout and sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “The line grapg were illustrate” combines incompatible verb forms, while “data were represent” and “it was started to fall down” show problems with passive and tense construction. Articles, agreement and countable forms are also unreliable in phrases such as “a nearly 9 metric tonnes” and “both the countries.” Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. For instance, write “UK emissions were highest in 1967, at about 11 tonnes, and declined to roughly 9 tonnes by 2007.”
