Student answer (Band 5.5)
The Below graph depicts the average carbon dioxide emissions per person in the following countries, United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, Portugal in five decades from 1967 to 2007. In the graph we can clearly see that some countries like united kingdom and sweden had reduction in the carbon dioxide emission while others such as italy and portugal have doubleded there emission.
It is apparently noticed that the graph has showen an intresting trends in the data, where we can see that United
kingdom has gradually reduced it carbon dioxied emission in these five decades however United Kingdom is still on top of the graph with close to 9 metric tonnes while Sweden also shown extraordinary results at start it was increasing close to touch United Kingdom in between [redacted phone], supriseingly inthat same decadeit reduced it emission in the end it is the amoung the countries which produce least amount of carbon dioxide emission per person along with portugal. In the begining Portugal was producing close to zero metric tonnes of emission but eventually it got increased to 5.5 metric tonnes however it still producing less compared to others. Italy has seen to be in the middle from the begining and from 4 metric tonnes to around 9 metric tonnes and achived second place in the graph.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the overall contrast between falling emissions in the UK and Sweden and rising figures in Italy and Portugal, and you note that the UK remains highest. These are relevant main features. However, some details are inaccurate: Italy rises from about 4 to 7.6 tonnes, not around 9, and it finishes second rather than being described as reaching “second place” without clarifying that it levels off. Sweden ends at about 5.4 tonnes, equal to Portugal, so calling both the countries producing the least is broadly right, but the account of Sweden’s rise and fall is unclear. Develop the overview more precisely by stating that Italy overtakes Sweden and that Portugal rises steadily. More accurate comparisons and clearer reporting of the key stages would strengthen the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable opening followed by a longer account of the countries, and it generally moves from the overall pattern to individual trends. However, the second paragraph contains several ideas in one extended sentence, making the sequence difficult to follow. For example, the discussion of Sweden shifts from its early rise to its later fall and then to Portugal without clear sentence boundaries. Linking phrases such as “however,” “while,” and “eventually” are used, but some connections are awkward or repetitive, and references such as “it” are not always immediately clear. Use separate sentences or paragraphs to group the declining countries and the rising countries, and make each comparison explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “metric tonnes,” “gradually reduced,” and “increased,” and you attempt more descriptive expressions such as “on top of the graph.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “showen,” “intresting,” “dioxied,” and “achived.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “doubleded there emission” and “extraordinary results” do not describe the data appropriately. Repetition of “emission” and “graph” limits the range. Aim for accurate, neutral reporting language and check spelling carefully; terms such as “rose,” “declined,” “peaked,” and “levelled off” can describe the trends more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast, for example, “while others such as Italy and Portugal…” This shows some range, but the longer structures are often difficult to control. In “the graph has showen an intresting trends,” the verb form and singular/plural agreement are faulty; “United Kingdom has gradually reduced it carbon dioxide emission” also has problems with the possessive and noun number. Several clauses run together without appropriate punctuation, especially in the account of Sweden and Portugal, which makes relationships between ideas unclear. Work on subject–verb agreement, articles and possessives, and divide complex sentences into shorter, complete units. More accurate sentence boundaries would make your comparisons easier to understand.
