Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that learning a foreign language is only benefical for travel or work in such countries while, others believe that it is not only important for this purpose because it plays an significant role in learning.

In my opinion, learning new languages have more advantages for developomg linguaistic skill because it open professional employability opportunities for people.

On the one hand, learning a new foreign language is good for travelling or working purpose in those countries. because without knowing the language you dont even intend to travel or work overseas. Because without knowing their language people mostly face communication difficulties. Without commoand on the language of the coutry their they visit they are able to interact with people and live their lives independently. For instance, if a tourist visit germany without knowing german they might face difficulty to interact with local people and even they enable to order food, find location or read sign boards independently.

On the other hand, leaning a foreign language is important for educational and personal development. It imporves knwoledge and leaning skills. It gives acess to international education. Leaning different languages help to explore different cultures which gives an vast exposure to the learner. For example, If a student know Turkish lanand apply for study abroad in specific country

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views by discussing travel and work in the first body paragraph and educational and personal development in the second. Your opinion is also introduced, but it is not fully clear: the claim that languages offer “more advantages” is followed by a point about employment, rather than a direct explanation of your broader position. The supporting ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, the Germany example gives practical travel difficulties, while the education paragraph ends mid-example (“If a student know Turkish…”), leaving the point unfinished. The response is also 33 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop both sides and your opinion. Complete the example and explain why these wider benefits matter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation: an introduction is followed by a paragraph beginning “On the one hand” and another beginning “On the other hand.” These markers help readers identify the two views. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and the response ends abruptly with an incomplete example, so the discussion does not reach a conclusion. Several sentences begin with “Because,” creating repetitive and sometimes unclear links, while “while” in the opening sentence does not connect the contrast smoothly. Improve cohesion by grouping each main idea with its explanation and example, using clear references, and adding a concluding sentence that restates your position. This would make the overall progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “communication difficulties,” “international education,” “different cultures,” and “professional employability opportunities.” However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the message difficult to read, as in “benefical,” “commoand,” “knwoledge,” and “acess.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “for travelling or working purpose” and “gives an vast exposure” do not express the ideas idiomatically. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations, such as “for travel or work” and “gain broader cultural exposure.” More precise vocabulary would help you explain the benefits without relying on repeated general terms such as “important” and “good.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if a tourist visit Germany,” but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include subject–verb agreement (“learning new languages have” and “it open”), incorrect sentence boundaries (“countries. because”), and missing or incorrect articles (“plays an significant role”). The final example, “If a student know Turkish lanand apply…,” is incomplete and does not form a complete sentence. There is also limited evidence of accurate control across a range of structures. Practise agreement, articles, and complete conditional sentences, then check punctuation so that each sentence has a clear subject and main verb.
