Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views: the first body paragraph explains how language can help with travel and employment, while the next mentions cultural understanding, friendships, and enjoying media and festivals. Your final sentence also indicates that you believe language learning has benefits beyond travel and work. However, the discussion is only partial: the reasons are listed rather than explained in depth, and the examples are brief or unclear. The opinion is not stated clearly in the introduction, and the conclusion does not fully bring the discussion together. The response is also 51 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. Add a clear position early and extend each main reason with a specific example and explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a concluding opinion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some ideas run together, particularly the long sentence about working abroad and employment. The link between cultural knowledge, making friends, and enjoying media is also not fully explained. Capitalisation and punctuation sometimes make boundaries between ideas unclear. To improve, give each paragraph a clear central point, separate supporting examples into complete sentences, and use referencing such as “this experience” to show how one idea connects to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “culture and traditions,” “communicate,” “opportunity,” and “employment.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both practical and personal benefits. However, the range is limited and several words are repeated, especially “foreign language,” “learn,” and “benefits.” Frequent spelling errors—such as “forgin,” “traval,” “benifits,” and “knowlage”—make the writing less clear and reduce the accuracy of your vocabulary. Some expressions are also unnatural, for example “buying a hotal” and “go for work on their.” Build a small set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling carefully; using more precise collocations will make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the contrast between the two views is understandable. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and longer attempts often contain several grammatical problems. For example, “Some people belive that should learn another language” is missing a subject after “that,” while “person who learn a foreign language he knows” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. Verb forms and articles are also often inaccurate, as in “someone go” and “a good opportunity an good employment.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, which sometimes obscures sentence boundaries. Practise building complete subject–verb sentences, then combine them with accurate clauses using “because,” “which,” or “when.”
