Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments provided, such as 'increase the knowledge' or 'improve the tongue twist', are vague and lack sufficient supporting evidence or logical expansion. The essay tends to repeat the same points about travel and business rather than exploring the broader benefits of language learning, such as cognitive development or cultural empathy. Consequently, the response feels somewhat repetitive and lacks the depth required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'there' (e.g., 'for there increase the knowledge'). Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow of the argument. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', the overall structure lacks the sophisticated control needed for a higher score, as the relationship between sentences is often strained by grammatical errors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There is significant confusion with word forms and collocations, such as 'accommodated with native peoples' instead of 'communicate with native speakers' and 'improve the tongue twist' which is not a standard expression. The repetition of basic words like 'peoples' and 'learn' indicates a restricted range. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequent errors in word choice and the lack of precise, academic vocabulary prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to word families and natural collocations is necessary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede the reader's understanding. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'individuals believes', 'most of people believes'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'there are so many peoples are learning'). The attempt to use complex sentences often results in fragments or run-on sentences, such as 'most of the peoples are learn foreign language for there travel and work purpose such as education, business so In my opinion...'. The control of basic grammar is weak, and complex structures are rarely used accurately.
