Student answer (Band 6.5)
According to a few individuals, studying other nations'language is only useful to visit outside of the country, while others think that it should not be the only reason to learn foreign speech, which is true in my opinion.
On one hand, some people have an opinion that learning a new language from another nation is beneficial only if someone is planning a foreign trip or going to work in a different nation because a language which is not person's native tongue can be too hard to learn. For example, in order to get fluent in the French language it would be challenging for an individual whose native speech is Hindi for instance. Some people might not have that much time and interest in investing in learning a new language.
On the other hand, some individuals think that these are not the only reason to develop fluency with foreign tongue. Learning a new language from another nation opens up many opportunities for any person. In my opinion having fluency with foreign speech offers many more advantages apart from traveling or working in foreign nation. For instance, if a computer engineer has learned the English language with great fluency they can get an international job without leaving their home town. Furthermore, adaptation to a new language will allow an individual to explore international cultural books.
In conclusion, motivation in order to acquire a strong tongue for international speech should not include only one reason in my opinion, learning a foreign language offers many more advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that learning a language opens opportunities, the explanation remains quite brief. For instance, the example of the computer engineer is relevant but could be expanded to better illustrate the broader cognitive or social benefits of language learning. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and specific detail, rather than just stating the advantage. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and could be more effectively linked to the main body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a discernible progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to link your points. However, the flow between sentences can feel a bit mechanical at times. The referencing is generally clear, but some transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the essay follows a standard structure that makes it easy for the reader to follow your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluency', 'adaptation', and 'acquire'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or non-standard collocations, such as 'foreign speech' (instead of 'foreign language'), 'other nations' language', and 'strong tongue'. These choices occasionally make the writing sound unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic terminology. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'a language which is not person's native tongue' (missing article) and 'these are not the only reason' (subject-verb agreement). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly ungrammatical, such as 'motivation in order to acquire a strong tongue'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on article usage, subject-verb agreement, and refining your complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
