Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is uneven. The first body paragraph is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth, while the second paragraph is more analytical. Crucially, the essay is incomplete; it ends abruptly in the conclusion, which means the final summary and the clear statement of your own opinion are missing. This prevents the essay from fully developing the position required by the prompt. To improve, ensure you complete your conclusion and provide more specific, well-developed examples for each point raised, rather than listing general ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However', which help the reader follow the flow of ideas. However, the paragraphing is problematic; the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the overall structure. Additionally, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'to explain it' and 'to elaborate it'. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and logically connected to the next, leading to a complete and cohesive conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'get job high earn companies' and 'get easy trips of foreign countries'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'acquisition', 'cultural perspective', and 'scholarly materials', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and avoid repeating simple words like 'get' or 'learning'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas more naturally and precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'people belong to other country learn foreign languages' (missing relative pronoun/preposition) and 'there basic needs' (incorrect homophone for 'their'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and capitalization errors. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement, correct use of articles, and proofreading for basic spelling and punctuation errors.
