Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views but fails to develop the ideas sufficiently, leading to a superficial discussion. The position is stated but lacks depth, and the essay is under the word count, which negatively impacts the development of the argument. The conclusion is incomplete and does not clearly restate the position. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure that each paragraph provides a thorough explanation of the points raised. The failure to meet the minimum word count is a significant constraint on your ability to fully address the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks clear paragraphing and logical progression. While there are attempts at linking words like 'To commence with' and 'Moreover', they are often used incorrectly or are followed by fragmented sentences. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. The lack of proper punctuation and sentence structure further hinders the flow of ideas. To improve, focus on using cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'walk in the foreign countries' (likely meaning 'work') and 'higher those people' (likely meaning 'hire'). These errors occasionally impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words in their correct context. Avoid repeating the same phrases and try to incorporate more precise academic terminology related to the topic of language learning and globalization.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence construction. Many sentences are run-on or lack necessary punctuation, making them difficult to parse. For example, 'many big company higher those people' contains both a pluralization error and a spelling/word choice error. The range of structures is limited, and there is little evidence of complex sentence control. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
