Student answer (Band 6.5)
A proportion of people believe that travelling or working in another country is the only reason to learn a non-native language while others think that there are also other reasons beyond these. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I believe that everyone should learn a second language.
Some people believe that only reason to learn non-native language is to travel or work in abroad. These people do not find any role of second language in their own country as they can use their native language everywhere. For instance, a Pakistani who wants to work in England will learn English but if it does not have to move there, he will find English useless.
On the other hand, some believe that learning a second language can still be beneficial while living in your own country. Advance people in the country avails benefits from learning second language by different means. For example, a Pakistani who can understand English can communicate with foreigners online and can do business with them and can learn from international teachers.
In my opinion, everyone should learn a second language. This thing can give a lot of benefits. To illustrate, I understand Arabic language and learns a lot from our Holy Book.
In conclusion, some believe that learning a foreign language is necessary only for people moving abroad, whi others think that it is necessary also living in own nation. The believes are according to the lifestyle of people and I also think that it is necessary, no matter where are you living.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that learning a language is useful for online communication or religious study, these points are not fully extended with sufficient depth or specific examples. The response covers all parts of the prompt, but the arguments remain quite brief, which prevents a higher score. To improve, try to elaborate on the 'why' and 'how' of your points, perhaps by discussing cognitive benefits or cultural empathy, which would provide a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'This thing can give a lot of benefits'). The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, but the lack of more sophisticated linking words or varied cohesive devices keeps the response at a mid-level. Improving the variety of transitions would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'learn a second language' and 'people believe'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'Advance people' (likely meaning 'advanced' or 'progressive') and 'avails benefits'. While the meaning is clear throughout, the lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. Incorporating more precise synonyms and collocations would significantly improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include missing articles ('learn non-native language'), incorrect prepositions ('work in abroad'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('I understand... and learns'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they are persistent throughout the text. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles and verb forms, and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures.
