IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

In modern times, the issue of foreign language has become highly controversial. There are those who say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. However, other people believe that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language. In this essay I will examine both sides of the argument and provide my overall opinion.

generally speaking, there are two main reasons why people believe that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country. Perhaps the main reason why people are in favor of this idea is because, the easier of communication with other people for travelling. For example, when people want to go to another country, they learn the language there. Moreover, people can communicate with local residents, ask for directions, order food, and solve problems more easily. Another reason is that the better job opportunities in foreign countries.. Consequently, many employers don't know how to talk in English and which is why they have to learn the language, it is very essential for work in another country.

Despite these arguments, there is also a case for the idea is that these are not the only reasons why someone should learn a foreign language. The main reason why people think this is a good idea is that individuals can get opportunities to gain education and knowledge. For instance, learning another language allows people to study at foreign universities and understand books, research papers, and online courses. Furthermore, many students learn English to study at international universities.

In conclusion, it must be said that foreign language has become a complex issue with no easy solution. Having considered both sides of the issue, In my perspective, only reason for learning a foreign language is in order to travel to or work in a foreign country because, at that time people don't have any time. Because of which, people cannot learn other countries language without any reason. If individuals want to go to abroad they learn foreign language
