Student answer (Band 6.5)
In my opinion learning a foreign language is not the only reason in order to travel to or work in a foreign country.
Learning a foreign language has many benefits and people learn them for multiple reasons.Yes it is important and beneficial for studying ,work and travel with more ease. But people can also use english as it has become a universal communication language among peoples all around the world.Which have also became a common ground in foreign universities for offering english taught programmes for international students. Similarly a lot of International job openings requires atleast english.
People learn foreign languages for literature writing and understanding the indepth meaning of their languages and their novels. It allows them to think in a different perspective and allows them to be more open.Leaning a foreign language can open a lot of job paths as one can also work as a translator between two different nationals speaking two different languages and can be paid handsome amount for being intermediary in their communication.Another reason for learning any foreign language is to interact with more large community and understand the thinking process of that foreign country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you mention literature and cognitive benefits, the example regarding Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan is quite specific and slightly tangential to the broader argument about language learning, making the connection to the prompt's core theme less effective. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is clearly linked back to the idea that language learning serves purposes beyond travel and work. The conclusion is present but could be more robust in summarizing the main arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'Which have also became' is grammatically incorrect and creates a disjointed flow. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack clear logical connectors between them, such as the transition between the second and third paragraphs. Improving the use of linking words like 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'in addition' would help create a smoother progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'more large community' instead of 'larger community' and 'learn other countries accustoms' instead of 'customs.' Spelling errors are also present, such as 'foreignn,' 'lamguage,' and 'uswed.' While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of these errors limit the score. Focusing on collocations and more precise academic terminology would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'job openings requires'), incorrect verb tenses, and punctuation errors. For example, 'Which have also became' is a sentence fragment that lacks a clear subject. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common slips in tense and word form.
