Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding why people learn languages are somewhat superficial, focusing mainly on basic survival needs or general cultural interest without exploring deeper implications. The position is stated but lacks the depth required for a higher band. The essay structure follows the prompt, but the content remains underdeveloped, often restating the same points rather than extending them with specific, well-supported examples. To improve, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments and concrete examples that illustrate the benefits of language learning beyond basic communication.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'On the first hand' (which should be 'On the one hand') and 'remaining of the individual’s'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, and the transition between sentences is often abrupt. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are frequently misused or repetitive. Improving the variety and accuracy of your cohesive devices and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'people', 'learn', and 'language'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'solpurpose', 'earning purpose', and 'on that country'. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'hold a whole nation on it'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations and using a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to linguistics, culture, and professional development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'It hold a whole nation'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in complex constructions, such as 'if someone need to survive... he must have to communicate'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing or misplaced commas and periods. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions. A more careful review of your work for these common errors would be beneficial.
