Student answer (Band 5.0)
The foreign language is necessary nowadays to travel from one to another country and the person who want to do job in foreign country. Common foreign language is English in our country and it stated from school time . Some individual opinions are foreign language is not only for travel and work in other country it also must for improving our skills and confinement as well . We can communicate with other person without any language barriers .
Both opinions are relevant but according to me purpose of foreign language for both side is similar . If we lives in India foreign language has also important to achieve a job in reputated international company especially during interview time . We can easily express our opinion without language hesitation that’s why in our country English subject is must .
On other way India is good visitor place there are a lot of people from foreign country came here to explore the country so we can interact with foreign person without hesitation.
Nowadays foreign language also used in many office work , in schools, with customer service support and a lot of other things that’s the main reason it’s mandatory in India as well .
Personally I noticed that most of people judge to other person without this language . One fully letrate person without English look illiterate doesn’t matter how much knowledge he has . For confidence in communication skill foreign language plays a very crucial role for everyone especially when we commute to other foreign country .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that language is useful for work and travel, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'judging others' is an interesting observation but is not clearly linked to the broader discussion of why people learn languages. To improve, you should provide more specific, well-supported examples for each perspective rather than listing general situations. The position is clear, but the overall response feels like a collection of points rather than a cohesive argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt or missing, making the flow feel disjointed. For example, the shift from discussing international companies to the tourism industry in India lacks a clear linking phrase. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the phrase 'On other way' to introduce a new point. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect sentences and paragraphs more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'foreign language', 'other country', and 'without hesitation'. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'reputated' (reputable) and 'letrate' (literate). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. Try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and synonyms to demonstrate a broader range of language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people... came here'), article usage (e.g., 'in other way'), and sentence construction (e.g., 'the person who want to do job'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
