Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both views and provide an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting examples. The structure is fragmented, with an 'Overview' section at the end that repeats points already made rather than synthesizing them. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear logical progression. Paragraphing is inconsistent, with some sections consisting of only one or two sentences. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'In Additionally' and 'However', these are often used incorrectly or placed awkwardly. The transition between ideas is frequently abrupt, making the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and linking ideas with appropriate transition words to create a smoother flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'people', 'learn', and 'connect'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'work in a abroad' and 'bridge role'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of language acquisition and cultural exchange, while ensuring you use these words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'whether if there are national or international people', 'It improve the bond', and 'language barrier become a main reason'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is often misused. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and the accurate construction of complex sentences. Proofreading for basic errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms will also help improve your score.
