Student answer (Band 6.0)
Learning and knowing new language is an essential skill that can help a individual get out of any situation in a foreign country. Few individual states that the sole reason of learning a new language is for travelling and work purposes in a different countries. While, others argue that this is not the only reason why someone learns a foreign language. The following paragraphs will analyze both views of the argument and state my opinion.
To commence with one side, a section of the society believes that the purpose of learning a foreign language is for travel and business. They hold this stance because they might be thinking that an individual learns a language just because they want to travel to another country or wants to work in a foreign country. These individual hold this belief as they are rooted in practicality and holds a general thinking about the outcomes of learning new language. For example, a recent movie that i was had a same argument that was being represented by few characters, in which one character held the same view due to the lack of explored thinking.
Conversely, an opposing view can be made that work and travel is not the sole reason why an individual learns a foreign language. The reason due to which they believe this is because learning a new language can give an individual more career opportunities such as a job in a different country in their field of likings. Another reason for this is because they think that learning a foreign language can clear all boundaries such as rejection of job opportunities due to limited knowledge for communicating.
According to my perspective, I think that the people who thinks that language is only for work and travel purpose lacks the open minded thinking about the outcomes. Thus, I support the people who thinks that its not the only reason a person learns a foreign language because transforming into a bilingual can transform an individual internally. It can help a person boost their psychological and social values such as communication and reading a unknown person's behavior.
To conclude, both view are correct but at their own place and according to every individual's perspective.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding the benefits of language learning beyond travel and work—such as 'psychological and social values'—are mentioned but remain under-developed. The example provided in the second paragraph is vague and does not effectively support the point about the practicality of language learning. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete, real-world examples and elaborate on the reasoning behind your claims to ensure the response is fully developed rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Conversely', and 'Thus' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'The reason due to which they believe this is because...', which is wordy and impacts the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'bilingual', 'practicality', and 'perspective'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'a individual' (should be 'an individual') and 'field of likings' (should be 'field of interest'). The phrase 'lack of explored thinking' is also slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you are using the correct articles and word forms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic, topic-specific terminology would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'These individual hold', 'the people who thinks') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors that occasionally interrupt the flow. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips. Proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pluralization would significantly improve your accuracy.
