Student answer (Band 5.5)
According to the few individuals the reason behind learning the international language is only to travel or work in a foreign country. But rather than those people say that these are not only the reasons. In this essay we discuss about why should a person need to learn a foreign language.
Some people learn foreign language because they want to travel in a specific county such as the people from counties where English is not national language they want to learn English to talk at international level. They learn to find jobs in other countries to make their financial conditions batter but some of them want to travel to explore the world. They want to communicate with foreign people. Some people learn to study in other countries to get batter education and experience study with new technologies.
On the other hand some people though that these are not only the reasons behind to learn foreign language some people want to become unique in their society because they are from one of few people who can speak international language. Few of them want to teach that language since this is the reason they learn foreign languages such as in our country many people learn English because they want to become English teacher. Some people learn foreign language because they work at that place where that language is required.
In my opinions both are at right point but I think that there is a very small number of those people who learn foreign language to travel but those who learn for other purpose are on right point because learn language is necessary for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both views and provides an opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'becoming unique' is underdeveloped and lacks clear explanation. The introduction is somewhat confusing, as the phrasing 'According to the few individuals' does not accurately reflect the prompt's premise. While the response covers the task, the ideas are presented in a repetitive manner, and the supporting examples are quite generic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific examples to support your arguments, ensuring that your position is clearly articulated throughout the entire essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'But rather than those people say' is unclear and disrupts the flow of the argument. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes weak, making it difficult to track the subject matter between sentences. While there is a logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive sentence structures hinder the overall coherence of the response. Improving the variety of transition signals would significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'learn', 'people', and 'reasons' without much variation. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'batter' instead of 'better' and 'county' instead of 'country'. These errors, combined with the lack of less common lexical items, restrict the range of your expression. To improve, you should focus on learning synonyms and collocations related to the topic of language acquisition and professional development. Using more precise academic vocabulary would help you convey your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'some people though that these are not only the reasons behind to learn'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and run-on sentences that make the text harder to follow. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are frequent areas of concern. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over a wider range of grammatical structures and ensure that your sentences are punctuated correctly to avoid ambiguity.
