Student answer (Band 6.0)
Having a new language is always feels like cherry on top of the cake. Some people suggested that learning a new language is only beneficial for travel or work purpose, while others have different opinions regarding the same. It is commonly seen that people refrain themselves from travelling to other countries because of communication barriers, whereas some people love to go to different countries in order to know their cultural, language and start a new life from scratch.
In the world, there are so many countries, so languages are. It is next to impossible to learn all the language but, getting more than one is always helps people in communicating with others while travelling or visiting any new country. For example, using public transport in any of the European countries is easy as major cities name, or details are written in English language, as English is widely acceptable throughout the globe.
People are learning new language to secure their jobs into government sectors as the requirement of translators are always available. Different language always helps people in difficult time in order to save themselves without getting caught.
I firmly believe that people should learn one or two more languages other than their mother tongue, as it helps in travelling or working in other countries as well as settling yourself and starting a new life in a new different country. Government should introduce in an education system a choice to learn a different language at school and society should also encourage their children to something new in order to stay always on upper hands.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views mentioned in the prompt: the utilitarian perspective (travel/work) and the broader benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that languages help with cultural understanding and job security, these points are not fully extended with concrete examples or logical depth. The prompt asks for your own opinion, which you provide in the final paragraph, but the supporting arguments for this opinion are brief. To improve, ensure each body paragraph explores the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments more thoroughly, rather than simply listing them. The response meets the minimum length requirement, but the depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 5.5 or 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'In the world, there are so many countries, so languages are.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central theme that is consistently developed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'communication barriers' and 'mother tongue'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'Having a new language is always feels like cherry on top of the cake' and 'stay always on upper hands'. These errors occasionally impede the natural flow of the text. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and idiomatic expressions in their correct context. Expanding your range to include more precise, academic vocabulary would also help elevate your score, as the current vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and basic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'Some people suggested' (should be 'suggest'), 'getting more than one is always helps' (should be 'always helps'), and 'requirement of translators are' (should be 'is'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practising the construction of complex sentences while ensuring they remain error-free will help you move into a higher band.
