Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is widely misconsuption that one can learn a foreign language solely for travelling or to work in abroad. However, others believe that the porpose is more wider and broad. I completely agree with this opinion because learning an international language offers many advantages in the terms of communication, living abraod, studying and for cognitive skills.
On the one hand, developing proficiency in another language ultimately allows individual to live abraod in more confidece and better ways. It also minimize the problems a person could face in an other country. Without experts in that specific country language could create problems for people. A person may face trouble while communicating in abraod.
On the other hand, studying an additional language boost confidence of a student. For example, those who know english in comparison to others provides greater career opportunities . Moreover, working on a new language enhace cognitive and communication skills of a person. Furthermore, aquiring a new language can broaden people's cultural awareness and enables them to understand different perspectives. For instence, individuals can entertain themselves from social media content and movies coming from other country.
In conclusion, seeking a second language enables peoples of different cultures to mitigate environental issue through working toghether and profound communication. It opens up door to everyone work or study in their favourite countries. Therefore, restrict a lanugauge to only for work or travelling is just a misconcuption.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack specific, well-developed examples. For instance, the mention of 'social media content' is a good start but is not fully explored. Because the response is under-length, the development of ideas is constrained, preventing a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the conclusion where the link between language learning and 'mitigating environmental issues' appears abruptly without prior context or logical connection to the rest of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors, such as 'misconsuption', 'porpose', 'abraod', 'enhace', and 'aquiring'. These errors are frequent and occasionally distracting. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'proficiency' and 'cognitive skills', the overall range is limited, and the misuse of words like 'wider and broad' (redundant) suggests a need for more careful word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('learning... offer', 'language... create'), article usage ('in an other country'), and prepositional errors ('in the terms of'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
