Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both views and provides a clear position. However, the development is uneven. The first body paragraph is reasonably well-supported, but the second paragraph is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'therefore,' and failing to provide a concluding thought or a fully developed argument. The ideas are relevant, but the lack of a proper conclusion and the unfinished final sentence significantly impact the overall task response. To reach a higher band, ensure all arguments are fully extended and that the essay includes a cohesive conclusion that summarizes the main points and restates the opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'In addition,' and 'On the other hand.' However, the flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the abrupt ending of the final paragraph indicates a failure to manage the structure effectively. While there is a logical progression of ideas, the mechanical nature of the linking words and the incomplete final paragraph prevent a higher score. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring paragraphs are complete is essential.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of incorrect word forms or collocations, such as 'work in abroad' (should be 'work abroad') and 'chines language' (should be 'Chinese'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms like 'good' or 'help.' To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensuring correct word forms. The errors do not completely impede communication, but they are noticeable and detract from the professional tone required for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('it also help to understand'), incorrect preposition usage, and sentence fragments ('a person travel from Pakistan'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors is high enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score.
