Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding career opportunities and knowledge acquisition are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the main points discussed. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples and ensure that your position is consistently supported throughout the essay with more depth and detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Some sentences lack clear logical links, such as the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would help create a more natural flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'believd on it' and 'world achievement'. You rely on a limited set of terms, and some collocations are unnatural, such as 'balance opinion'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common vocabulary limits the score. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'my friend gets German language'), article usage (e.g., 'the embassy asked'), and tense consistency. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and pluralization.
