Student answer (Band 5.0)

Everyone had their own opinion but iam telling you about my opinion. If we talk about English language from my perspective the English language is also helpful in our country. If we learn English than we have more options to make our future strong .we talk step by step

First of all we go to foreign country like Canada, United States of America, United kingdom and Germany,if we understand English language. If we don't get Viza for going to foreign country than with the help of English language we can get a suitable job in various field like banking, company, school college, but for these job we required a degrees also in relevant field. From my perspective without English language we can't be able to get a suitable job in pakistan. People respect those people how have a confidence and speak the English language properly. If you highly educated and don't understand the English language we would not be able to get a job. The reason is that English language is most important to live in Pakistan. Secondly if you learnt English language it's more channces you have bright future. If people say English only necessary for going to abroad than these thinking was not suitable. It helps us in all over the world expect some country like France and Germany beacuse in this country only german and franch allowed,

if we go to that country that know English and we have no idea about English than we are failures . So English is necessary for a bright future all over the world .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of learning a foreign language for travel and work, as well as its broader benefits. However, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. The argument that English is necessary for employment in Pakistan is presented, but the supporting examples are somewhat anecdotal and lack depth. The prompt asks to discuss both views and provide an opinion; while you do provide your perspective, the structure is informal and lacks a clear, academic introduction and conclusion. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct idea and provides more detailed, logical support for your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, which makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. While there are some attempts at linking words like 'First of all' and 'Secondly', the transitions between sentences are often abrupt or mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited, and the lack of clear paragraphing hinders the overall flow of the argument. To improve, you should organize your essay into a clear introduction, two body paragraphs (one for each view), and a conclusion. Using a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' would help connect your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple terms like 'good', 'important', and 'job'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'these thinking was not suitable' and 'expect some country', which indicate a limited range of vocabulary. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to language acquisition, professional development, and global communication. Avoid repeating the same phrases and try to use synonyms to express your ideas with more variety and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Everyone had their own opinion', 'these thinking was not'), article usage, and punctuation. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors in clause construction, such as 'if we go to that country that know English and we have no idea about English than we are failures'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of tenses before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
